Infinity Display, 6-inch display size, 18.5:9 full-view super AMOLED technology. You will surely get impressed on the first look to Samsung Galaxy J8. But when you hold it in your hand, you figure out that the body is made of plastic. A plastic body for about 30,000 Tk. is not worth it in 2018. Even if we still think that the quality of Samsung phones are better than Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo or Vivo phones we are probably right. But plastic will never be better than metal whatever quality it is. When Chinese brands are giving metal phones in around 15,000-20,000 Tk., it will be hard for Samsung to convince the buyers to still buy a phone with a plastic body for 30,000 Tk. Yes, it is an infinity display, but you can't watch a video with Full HD quality. Yes, Samsung is investing a lot of money to develop expensive folding phones, to introduce more innovative features in their premium flagship phones and they have other big industries outside the mobile phone business as well. But it is a fact that, Samsung is losing a lot of business to Chinese brands at least in Bangladeshi phone market. It is because the majority of the people are looking for the low range to mid-range phones. Samsung simply does not offer competitive features in this range anymore. So, they are now behind Xiaomi, Huawei and Symphony in the first half of 2018. Samsung is transforming from a people's brand into a posh classy brand. Probably, this is the easier way to save their business in this industry.

You may point out to the other features such as 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, 16+5 Mp dual primary camera, 16 MP front camera, 1.6 GHz octa-core CPU, face unlock etc. features. Yes, these are some competitive features for the price. The cameras are indeed the best feature of this device and the gadget is not all that bad. But then we talk about performance and we have a poor Snapdragon 450 chipset for 4 GB RAM and octa-core CPU. It doesn't really fit in the configuration and the chipset will make the device much less effective than you may expect from a 4 GB RAM phone. As said, it's not all that bad and the phone itself is altogether just fine. But the price is over the top and we were expecting from Samsung something more enthusiastic, more people's friendly than a simple mediocre release with a few fine quality features.
